The Coronal Jebrot was the supreme religious leader of the faith of Ronahiya, goddess of the sun. She held the highest seat in the most powerful centralized church dedicated to Ronahiya, based in Noureddine at the height of its splendor.

She was lost during the War of Dominion and the Ritual of Sundered Day.

Why She Is Not Undead

The Ritual of Sundered Day killed combatants on both sides and resurrected them as undead. The Coronal was not among the risen.

Her connection to Ronahiya was so complete, so total, that the ritual could not reach her through it. She was so thoroughly bound to her goddess that when the ritual tried to drag her back, the divine connection simply held. She passed into Ronahiya’s afterlife instead of being pulled into undeath.

This was not a mercy she asked for. It was a consequence of who she was.

What She Left Behind

The Coronal had an assistant — a woman of profound loyalty and devotion, whose name has not been recorded. This assistant survived the war as undead. She has spent the fifty years since the desecration attempting to bring the Coronal back from Ronahiya’s afterlife, through increasingly desperate and costly means.

Whether Ronahiya holds the Coronal deliberately or whether the structure of their connection simply made this outcome inevitable is unknown. Whether the goddess is even aware of what is being done in Noureddine in the Coronal’s name is also unknown — the gods of De Novo cannot pay the level of attention one might want. They have worshippers on countless worlds.
