The War of Dominion was a military campaign prosecuted by the Kingdom of Kex approximately fifty years before the present day of the 4th Era. Its primary target was Noureddine, the holy city of Ronahiya, goddess of the sun.

The war culminated in the Ritual of Sundered Day — a mass ritual performed by Kex forces during the siege that killed a substantial number of combatants on both sides and resurrected them as undead. The ritual permanently cursed the city, transforming it into a megadungeon inhabited by two factions of undead who continue fighting each other decades later.

Kex understood the desecration as a theological victory: the subordination of a rival divine order to Malabolous’s hierarchy. The Coronal Jebrot, supreme leader of Ronahiya’s faith, was lost during the war — her connection to her goddess was so total that she passed into Ronahiya’s divine afterlife rather than undeath.

The consequences of the war persist. The ruins of Noureddine cast a shadow over the surrounding settlement. The undead within retain fragments of their former identities and their former hatred. And the living witnesses — those few who survived and remember — carry the weight of what was done and what was lost.
